As a Buyers Assistant at David Jones, you will work alongside your Buyer to drive commercial results within our Small Appliances category. Joining our team, you will assist with curating and delivering an exciting product range using your relationship with suppliers that is innovative and unique to David Jones. We are looking for someone who would like to develop their skills in merchandising, who is highly organized, is an excellent communicator and who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

With a hybrid mix of working at home as well as our Burnley office, this role will suit a passionate Retail or VM professional looking to grow their career in Merchandise with a supportive and flexible team.

What does the role involve?
- Be responsible for quantifying and completing Buyer orders
- Oversee product performance and initiate markdown within policy
- Monitor and maintain purchasing and inventory levels
- Allocation of stock and inventory nationally
- Report of buyership performance and provide recommendations
- Monitor supplier deliveries and action follow ups when necessary
- Collaborate with publishers, vendors and suppliers

What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated experience working within a similar Buyers Assistant role in a retail environment
- Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines
