Melbourne City Centre, Australia Department of Health Full time

**About the role**:
The Principal Policy Advisor is a senior role within the Reform Implementation unit 2 (Local Services). The unit, within the Reform Implementation Branch, is to focus on the delivery of complex, priority mental health and wellbeing reforms. The initial, priority focus for the unit is the delivery of Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals (often abbreviated to Local Services) - a flagship reform of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System and entirely new mental health and wellbeing service stream - however the focus and responsibilities of the unit will evolve over time.

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Design, the Principal Policy Adviser plays a strategic leadership role in shaping and delivering complex policy initiatives and projects that support the enhancement of Local Services across Victoria. This senior position requires a high level of conceptual and analytical capability, with a strong focus on systems thinking, sector analysis, and the provision of authoritative policy advice.

The Principal Policy Adviser is pivotal in driving strategic direction, influencing high-level decisions, and ensuring the effective operation of the program. It involves leading high-impact stakeholder engagement, navigating complex policy environments, and contributing to the design and implementation of innovative service delivery models.
