About Us:
Benarkin State School is a small school located in the South Burnett region of Queensland. Benarkin sits atop the Balfour Range about 6 kilometres east of Blackbutt, on the way to Kingaroy. Benarkin is a very small town, with only one shop. Most of our students live on small acreage blocks about 5-10 kilometres west of the main town.
Our school motto 'Learning and Growing Together' reflects both our belief that we all learn from each other and that together we support each other's learning. As we learn, we grow to become the best that we can be. Our philosophy is that all children have the right to aspire for a positive successful future and that our school supports their learning and their growth as the future caretakers of our world.
About the Role:
The host school for this cluster is Benarkin State School. The other schools in the cluster are Cooyar State School, Tanduringie State School, Linville State School and Harlin State School.
State and commonwealth funding have established a pilot to trial different approaches to using a HOD-C to support a cluster of small schools. A portion of the HOD-C role will constitute a 0.2 FTE Teaching load to be negotiated with the successful applicant. This pilot will run until the end of 2026.
The pilot supports different implementation approaches including virtual support for schools, travelling to schools at different times or a combination of the two. These will depend on the geographical features of the cluster, the needs of the cluster schools, and the flexibility of the successful applicant.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
Lead the curriculum across schools to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
How to apply:
Please submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history)
A maximum 2 page written response outlining your curriculum knowledge and experience, and your experience in working collaboratively with colleagues.
We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.
Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.
Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
Salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).
