APG Workforce is currently seeking and experienced Water Quality Analyst for a 3-month contract within a West Ryde Government Sector.
- $280 Per Day + super

**The Role**
Perform routine and non-routine collection and/or analyses of samples from a variety of environments, using a range of equipment in accordance with procedures to meet customer quality and time expectations and regulatory and operational requirements, with mínimal or no supervision.

These requirements are not limited to one group and people with suitable skills/experience and specific accountabilities will be considered for roles in any of the areas.

**Responsibilities**
- Perform sampling or analytical roles, as appropriate to the business area and depending on the team the employee is assigned to. Tasks may include operation and calibration of scientific instrumentation, collecting samples, receiving samples, Preparation, extraction, concentration, digestion and analysis of soil, sediment and spoil (modified to combine point 12) samples.
- Routine chemical or biological analysis of water and wastewater products in accordance with procedures
- Operate field or laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with training and instruction
- Laboratory instruments and equipment include TOC, O&G, BOD, FIA, IC, HPLC and GC with specific detectors (FID and ECD), spectrophotometer, robot, PCR and IMS, (and AAS, ICPAES, ICPMS and GCMS under supervision) - will be removed - Lab managers to include in Job specific area
- Identify problems and undertake problem solving and troubleshooting appropriate to level
- Check relevant data entry for accuracy, report unusual results and issues immediately to a Supervisor, Team Leader or Manager
- Ability and willingness to learn new tasks, methods, instruments and equipment, as appropriate

**To be considered for this position you will possess the following skills and attributes**:

- Experience operating field instruments and equipment such as thermometers, multiprobes, amperometric titrators, colorimeter, turbidity meters, autosamplers, depth samplers, ground water sampler, sediment grabs and soil augers
- Contribute to the Afternoon shift working during Daylight hours
- Ability to perform field-based activities, opening manholes and hatches, carrying sampling equipment over bush tracks or a variety of terrains and in and around water,
- Ability and willingness to implement controls allowing safe sampling in sewer environments and all-weather conditions.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and suitable experience to safely drive a ute, van, car in a variety of environments for extended periods
- Need to be available for additional out of hours, shift work or to be on call. Must be available to work on a rostered basis on weekends and public holidays.
- Must be available to work at other locations as required
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst managing competing demands
- Ability to lift up to 10kg
- Ability to use computers and tablets and associated software, including Microsoft Windows, Lab information management System (LIMS) and Office and various mobile devices
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with mínimal or no supervision
- Senior First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain to meet operational requirements
- Willingness to obtain recommended vaccinations
- Willingness to cross train and be amenable to rotation through all areas of your laboratory as a priority and Laboratory Services, as appropriate
- Willingness to work from a separate location if needed eg: Business Continuity Plan location
- A relevant tertiary qualification (Degree and/or Certificate in Science) or demonstrated experience working in a field or laboratory environment under quality accredited conditions in a relevant discipline
- Check relevant data entry for accuracy, report unusual results and issues immediately to Senior Analyst or Supervisor
- Suitable fitness for duty in their area of work
