**About the opportunity**
Brisbane Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Administration Officer who will be focused on Billings, Accounts Payable and supporting the processing of Elective Surgery for Public Patients, to join our team on a full-time basis.
Previous demonstrated experience as a Billings Clerk/Patients Accounts Clerk will be key for success in this role.
The Admin Officer has the responsibility of ensuring the efficient and effective coordination of the billing and debt collection functions of the hospitals. You will liaise and communicate directly with patients, health funds, hospitals’ administration and hospitals’ management regarding patient account enquiries.

Brisbane Private is a 181 bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 17 operating theatres conveniently located above the Roma Street Parklands. Specialties include neurosurgery, orthopaedics, spinal, plastics, urology, ENT, Rehabilitation and general surgery and delivery of Brisbane’s leading private drug and alcohol programs from Damascus Health Services.
**Reporting to the Front Office Administration Manager, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:
- Field patient billing enquiries and provide resolution
- Assisting with patient refunds
- Banking and Debtor Management
- Maintain extensive knowledge of Health Fund contracts
- Accurate and timely billing of Health Fund and Third-Party invoices
- Provide support to administration team
- Review uninsured patient charges
- Liaise with various stakeholders including patients, Medicare, health funds etc.
**Key Selection Criteria**:
- Sound knowledge of Patient Management System i.e. WebPAS or other
- Knowledge of Private Health Fund contracts and claiming process
- Experience in Hospital Billing
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Previous experience with health fund contracts
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Deliver exceptional billing and collection services by maintaining efficient workflows for billing health funds, Workcover, DVA, Third Parties, etc., in line with One Healthscope best practices
- Monitor debt collection and perform reconciliations, including daily banking, while providing necessary support
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable desirable
**Desirable Criteria**:
- Previously worked within a team environment
- Previous experience with Cash Handling and reconciling
- Medical terminology
