**About the role**:
Reporting to the NSW State Operations Manager, the HSSE Lead is responsible for the delivery of HSSE support to our Supply Chain facilities in NSW. These facilities include Gore Bay Port & Terminal Facility, White Bay Marine, Clyde/Parramatta Terminals, Gore Bay Pipeline, Mascot Pipeline and Aviation refuelling services at Sydney Airport.

The HSSE Lead works closely with the site Operations Managers and their teams, providing visible safety leadership and advice, and coaching in the development of a learning based safety culture.

Additionally, the HSSE Lead monitors regulatory and HSSE management system compliance, assists in the coordination of assurance activities and the delivery of safety initiatives that target ongoing improvement in our HSSE performance.

The role is suited to an experienced and dedicated safety lead, committed to the safety of our operations and the wellbeing of our people. The HSSE Lead brings a passion for learning and improving safety culture, and a desire to provide visible safety leadership.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Relevant process/personal safety qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of the relevant regulatory environment (familiarity with WHS and MHF legislation desirable).
- Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) -**
- Supports the site Operations Managers, to ensure the integrity of the Viva Energy HSSE Management System is maintained at each location.
- Ensures personal and process safety risks are understood across operations, and that ways of working are effectively managing risk in day to day operations.
- Facilitates and/or participates in safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations and bowtie reviews to determine effectiveness of, and identify improvements to, risk controls.
- Monitors completion of local assurance plans and participates in national assurance activities; including leading the review of self-assessment audits to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Works with contract owners to ensure contractor safety management processes are consistently implemented at all work sites, and that verification audits are scheduled and completed appropriately.
- Provides independent HSSE review of Management of Change (MOC) proposals.
- Facilitates co-ordination of safety reports, and consolidates performance management reporting for both company and external stakeholders.

**People -**
- Develops, supports and mentors our people through engagement with local teams, championing Goal Zero, Safety First and a culture of operational learning
- Works closely with the State Operations Manager to implement programs to improve HSSE outcomes including health and wellbeing, personal safety, process safety, security (including cyber-security) and environment.
- Supports each location to identify opportunities to reduce complexity in safety processes & procedures, whilst achieving compliance with applicable WHS, dangerous goods and MHF legislation.
- Provide support, advice and challenge to the review of HSSE incidents and subsequent recommendations and/or actions.

**Work Experience Required**:
Experienced in a dangerous goods, liquid fuel or aviation operational environment, and managing and/or implementing the following;
- Safety management systems and processes within industrial facilities.
- Incident investigations using learning based methodologies
- Safety management procedures that minimise risks As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)
- Safe Systems of Work such as Permit to Work, LOTO and SWMS and the interface with Contractor HSE Management Systems
