The Principal eHealth Advisor role is a key member of the Connecting Care team of the Digital Health branch.
The primary purpose of the role is to lead activities that enable routine and secure exchange of clinical information between Victorian healthcare providers. Stakeholders include hospitals, primary and community health sectors. The role supports important initiatives within program 3 of Victoria's digital health roadmap. Critical activities relates to eReferral, image sharing and establishing fit for purpose mechanisms / architecture for sharing such information.
The Principal eHealth Advisor will support the Director, Connecting Care to drive the Safer Transfer of Care agenda and will be required to fulfill multiple functions which includes, but is not limited to:

- strategy development that informs coordinated transfer of healthcare information
- sector engagement to promote and enable the use of technologies to support Safer Transfer of Care
- strategic advice to the Director of Connecting Care and Chief Digital Health Officer on issues related to Safer Transfers of Care
- promoting digital maturity to ensure uptake and use of delivered technologies
- internal advocacy to promote and align safer transfers of care with internal policies and reforms
- flexibility to pivot to new and emerging issues as they arise

Accountabilities
- provide advice based on high quality business knowledge, strategic understanding and relevant policies and reforms to:

- the Director, Connecting Care
- the Chief Digital Health Officer
- other senior managers as directed,
- external stakeholders and partners.
- develop, maintain and foster effective networks and liaisons to facilitate a partnership approach with: branches and teams within the department
- external stakeholder groups with interest in Safer Transfer of Care e.g. Primary Care
- understand business drivers, initiatives and business outcomes that directly inform and impact the objectives of the Safer Transfer of Care including:

- changes to national policies and national infrastructure.
- relationship to internal department reform initiatives.
- relationship to department managed programs e.g. Statewide Referral Criteria.
- support delivery of solutions and outcomes in an organisational environment complicated by scale, heterogeneity and complexity by.
- identifying and, where possible, mitigate roadblocks.
- manage interdependencies across projects.
- facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders.
- leveraging lessons learned across the sector to minimise unnecessary effort.
- coordinate the strategic development of standards that inform the creation, delivery and acceptance of eReferrals in Victoria.
- alignment to statewide referral criteria.
- define specifications that detail the output file used for eReferrals. Leverage work being done by Australian Digital Health Agency regarding technical architecture, technology, and operational capabilities in a standardised and aligned manner.
- relevant department branches and teams.
- Victorian public health services.
- stakeholders in the broader health sector.
- provide strategically aligned advice on service implementation and deployment approaches, decisions, budgets, resources and related project governance processes.
- contribute to the development of strategies and budget bids that further the progress of the Safer Transfer of Care program.
- Represent the department on key committees as required.
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Identify, manage, monitor and report on high priority issues and risks impacting projects.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
