
Training Officer

Provide practical operational skills training, including firearms training, to police officers, recruits and other clients.
- Assess program participants and prepare required reports based on these assessments.
- Liaise with and develop effective working relationships with members of the Queensland Police Service and other agencies and individuals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of course curricula by conducting research, evaluation and development of operational skills training courses.
- Continue ongoing personal development and training to ensure best practice in the effectiveness of personal and instructional skills.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant may be required to successfully complete all relevant operational skills and tactics courses if not already in possession of equivalent qualifications including District Firearms Training Officer Course, Police Operational Skills and Tactics Instructors Course, Taser Instructor Course, Active Armed Offender Instructor Course, Tactical First Aid Training Instructors Course and Driver Training.
The position is currently based at Frontline Skills Training at Wacol.
Hearing
Short listed applicants will be required to undergo a baseline hearing assessment by a QPS approved PEMS provider. The hearing assessment will be evaluated without the use of artificial aids and a loss of 35 decibels on the ISO 389 scale (at 500, 1000, 2000Hz), no more than 40 decibels (at 3000Hz) and no more than 50 decibels (at 4000Hz on a pure tone audiometer) in either ear is considered significant and is normally unacceptable for recruiting purposes. Successful applicants will be required to undergo yearly hearing tests and at any time as deemed necessary by QPS
Blood Lead Level
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a baseline blood level test prior to commencing firearms activities and will be required to undertake further testing as deemed necessary by QPS.
The successful applicant may be required to perform duty within any program/branch of Operational Training Services.
An Open 'C' class licence is required.
