**The Role**
The APS 6 Business Support Officer will work independently supporting a collaborative team to achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. They will:

- Provide detailed administration, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
- Be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
- Be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

The role of an APS 6 Business Manager will include:

- Coordinate administrative and business support activities for a team and other work areas, identify risks and determine appropriate course of action to meet stakeholder needs.
- Act as the steward for the Branch, Business Management System.
- Accountable to perform complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities and tasks that support the delivery of outcomes across the Branch.
- Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on the centralised branch support activities and Business.
- Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships and provide constructive feedback.
- Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, provide advice and guidance on more complex issues as well as proffering support to the Branch Business Manager and Finance Manager.
- Resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action.
- Accountable to develop and implement procedural, operational, corporate, administrative and business support documentation consistent with business requirements.

**About our Team**
Navy Engineering Branch is looking for a high performing, experienced Business Support Officer to be a part of their small but dynamic Business Team.

The Directorate of Professional Engineering and Governance (DPEG) within Navy Engineering Branch is responsible for the business administration and governance of the Branch and supporting the professionalisation of the Navy Engineering workforce.

Collectively we rely on each other’s knowledge and strengths to achieve the result.

Within the Business Support function, the APS 6 Business Support Officer is accountable to the Branch Business Manager under broad direction to perform and achieve complex planning, business stakeholder advice, procurement and probity support.

They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

The occupant will need to have the following capabilities:

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and report on business activities.
- Highly developed verbal, written and computer communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas.
- Demonstrated capability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes.
- Strong skill sets in analysing, synthesising and presenting Business Management Systems data in a clear and concise manner that aids decision making in relation to business futures requirements and business risks.
- Experience in business environments (models, tools, financial packages), preferably, with procurement knowledge is desirable.
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
