**Quality & Safety Unit at Monash Health**

Led by the Executive Director Quality and Safety and working closely with key stakeholders, the Quality & Safety Unit supports our Program leaders to embed strong clinical governance processes. This is critical to underpin the delivery of safe and effective care to every patient, every time.

**About the Role**

In this important role, you will work closely with Mental Health** **Program leaders to ensure a consistent, organisation-wide approach to patient safety and quality improvement across our acute, aged persons, children’s and community based mental health services.

Your key responsibilities will comprise:

- ensuring clinical outcomes are monitored and improved when needed;
- working with the Clinical Outcomes team and programs to facilitate or lead reviews into clinical incidents and outcomes;
- supporting Program clinical governance meetings;
- adopting a consultative approach to the review of clinical procedures and guidelines in a timely fashion;
- overseeing the implementation and evaluation of relevant standards including the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards;
- working with the Risk team to facilitate review of the Program Risk Register; and
- Ensuring promotion of and compliance with best practice standards, professional standards and legislative requirements and policies and procedures.

**About You**

Your skills and experience to date include:

- a clinical background, with a demonstrated strong understanding of clinical governance;
- experience in quality and risk management within a healthcare setting;
- proven experience in implementing continuous clinical quality improvement;
- experience in implementing the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards; and
- excellent report writing skills.

On a personal level, you can demonstrate:

- exceptional interpersonal and engagement skills;
- a consultative approach enabling you to readily build and develop relationships;
- proven change management capabilities;
- an understanding of, and positive contribution to a just culture; and
- a positive attitude in facilitating change and adopting new concepts.

Experience in incident reviews (particularly using root cause analysis methodology) is considered advantageous but is not mandatory.

**What you need**

Current AHPRA registration is not required but proven clinical experience is a mandatory requirement for this role.
