**Primary Purpose of Role**

The position of Volunteer Retention Officer within the SA State Emergency Service (SES) is responsible for contributing towards the development and implementation of retention strategies including providing training and promotional services to increase the retention and recruitment of volunteers for the SES.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of volunteer retention strategies for the SES
- Providing program, project and strategic advice to stakeholders on emergency management volunteering issues
- Providing strategic advice and when approved implementing communications and stakeholder engagement strategies to enhance the management and implementation of new retention initiatives
- Influencing, Training and Managing change within SES Volunteer Units to embed organisational retention strategies
- Providing high-level policy, program and project advice to Manager Volunteer Capacity on retention issues
- Collaboratively influencing peer District Officers in the implementation of organisational retention strategies
- Maintaining effective communication channels between the State Headquarters and branches of the SES relating to volunteers
- Leading change in engendering continuous improvement, specialising in the retention of volunteers within the SES, through identifying and cross levelling best practice
- Contributing to the continuation of effective volunteer service delivery through the research, design and implementation of retention strategies
- Directly supporting the implementation of broad Volunteer Capacity strategies as directed by the Manager Volunteer Capacity.
- Maintaining an effective working relationship with SAFECOM VSB.

**Remuneration**:
ASO5
$85,790 to $95,413
