A temporary Environmental Officer job in Melbourne to start immediately.

**Your new role**
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Environment Officer is a member of a team responsible for leading regulator response to financial assurance and levy requirements. You will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in supporting the delivery of state-wide compliance programs aligned to companies’ strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. You’ll:

- Support inspections, investigations, and enforcement action by providing information on where potential breaches of environmental laws have occurred
- Deliver projects/programs to plan, including the management of risks, prioritisation of tasks, monitoring of workflow; and contributing to the evaluation of project/program effectiveness; use of initiative to identify, communicate, and address delivery risks and opportunities to improve organisational outcomes
- Analyse data relating to waste disposal, landfill management and pollution and making recommendations on findings

**What you'll need to succeed**
As well as a tertiary degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or equivalent. You’ll have:

- An understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste
- Knowledge of environmental legislation
- A detailed knowledge and understanding of Victoria’s environmental protection laws is desirable
