The Office of the Secretary plays a central policy role driving DCS priority projects and government customer initiatives.

We are looking for a highly capable and dedicated Policy Officer to join our fast paced and exciting Cabinet and Policy team, on an ongoing basis.

**About this opportunity**
You will join a small, highly skilled team providing well-researched, strategic policy advice to Ministers, the Secretary and senior executives.
You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to senior decision-makers and play a role in policy, strategy, and legislation that establishes the customer at the centre of everything Government does.

As a member of the Cabinet and Policy team, you will contribute to delivery of Cabinet and Committee submissions ensuring high quality coordination, analysis and advice. The Policy Officer role also provides corporate support in the delivery of broader policy or project initiatives.

**About You**
For this role, you will have solid writing skills and process management skills. Previous experience working in policy development, analysis, review and implementation is valued. Ideally, you will have experience with Cabinet and ministerial processes.

Your ability to think strategically, supported by highly tuned drafting skills will also be important to success. It is essential that you have high attention to detail as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working at the centre of a diverse and dynamic Cluster, you will be comfortable with managing competing priorities, and delivering in changing environments.

- Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames
- Ability to research, analyse and review complex policy issues to develop practical solutions
- Strong organisation skills and ability to work independently and make decisions and raise issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively and be able to build and maintain positive and productive relationships

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at 99431 base plus superannuation
