The Communications Branch provides strategic communication advice and support to the Department, the Repatriation Commission, and the Minister and Assistant Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel.

The Digital Services and Design Section delivers a range of digital products for the Department including website maintenance and development, social media management, graphic design services, and digital video production. The section oversees a range of websites including (but not limited to) the main DVA website, Open Arms, Defence Service Homes Insurance, and the Recognition website. Management of a number of DVA’s official social media channels forms part of the section’s core function.

**Duties**
- Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions
- Use website analytics, search-term analysis, and other heuristics to ensure that content on DVA’s websites is effective, useful, positioned correctly, and easily found.
- Undertake search engine configuration on a range of DVA’s websites to ensure search results are effective and accurate.
- Configure and provide usage statistics and other website reporting tools to allow business areas to measure the impact of their campaigns and content updates.
- Work closely with the web development and BAU publishing teams to deliver evidence-driven changes to DVA’s websites such as information architecture (IA) updates, homepage redesigns, and content clean-up.
- Input into communication strategies, including but not limited to; market research and analysis; website and social media; and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with budget forecasting for the Digital Services and Design Section.
- Manage web-based projects and digital-related procurement within the team.
- Provide support to the BAU web publishing team as required.
- Manage and mentor team members, identifying and encouraging development and learning opportunities to support communication objectives.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
