**About the Role**
The Clinical Skills Instructor plays a key supportive role in the development and delivery of clinical skills training and assessment to all students and in the oversight and delivery of the final year veterinary student diagnostic imaging practical experience, with a particular focus on radiography and ultrasonography training and acquisition of related Day 1 clinical competencies, that occurs as part of the Melbourne Veterinary School’s DVM curriculum. The position will work closely with students, academic staff and other key stakeholders.
The Clinical Skills Instructor will work as part of the clinical skills team at the Werribee campus providing support to students undertaking clinical skills training activities in Greencross Veterinary Hospital at the University of Melbourne and in the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
The Clinical Skills Instructor is based at the Faculty’s Werribee campus. The primary location of the position will be at the Werribee campus at the time of appointment, however the position will be expected to work from and attend other sites and campuses from time to time, if required.
Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to all aspects of practical diagnostic imaging acquisition including radiography and ultrasonography, and provide appropriate assistance and support to veterinarians and students
- Providing formative feedback to students undertaking clinical rotations at the Greencross Veterinary Hospital at the University of Melbourne and contribute to summative feedback and assessment
- Developing and delivering clinical skills training and assessment activities across the major veterinary species, including development of new clinical skills training stations (with the appropriate training support materials) and clinical skills assessment (‘OSCE’) stations
- Handle animals safely at all times including during clinical procedures
**About You**
You will have experience in a veterinary diagnostic imaging environment, including current knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment and materials. You will possess well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You will also have the ability to work autonomously, flexibly and effectively as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and with people from diverse backgrounds.
You will also have:
- Completion of a relevant Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) with relevant experience in diagnostic imaging or equivalent formal veterinary nursing qualification with relevant work experience
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, a use licence to operate radiation sources/units within Victoria
- Demonstrated experience in a veterinary diagnostic imaging environment, including current knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment and materials
