One of our goals as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan is to strengthen our engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities, by improving employment opportunities and ensuring patients and their families feel culturally safe at Austin Health.
The Aboriginal Employment Officer role will work as part of the Diversity and Inclusion team and support the delivery of our Aborginal Employment Plan 2021-24. The key focus of this role will be to contribute to and support our vision of being a culturally safe workplace and an employer of choice for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. This role will also build strong networks both internally and externally to identify opportunities to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander employment and support career development opportunities.
Who we are looking for:
- Someone with strong links to Aboriginal community.
- Experience working in a recruitment focused role or similiar (desirable but not esstenial).
- A passion for wanting to make a difference and increase employment & career opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Build trusted relationships, networks and where possible, partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, Aboriginal health services, the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait
- Islander community, local schools, universities, employment networks, education providers and government agencies.
- The ability to use initiative and gain cooperation from key stakeholders in supporting the development and successful delivery of key projects and initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and add value in decision making.
