The primary focus of this role is to work across the department and with external stakeholders to coordinate information and provide a holistic view of TMR's role in advancing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This includes engaging, promoting and embedding Government priorities and growing TMR's Indigenous agenda.
The role will also provide support to maintain key relationships with various academic and research bodies and government agencies to ensure TMR's objectives are reflected in relevant research and development agendas. You will also be responsible for responding to emerging policy issues and provide high level analysis of complex policy options and advice on significant emerging state and national transport policy issues, including critically reviewing cabinet submissions, briefing notes, correspondence and recommendations on complex policy issues in relation to transport research and development and Indigenous issues.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Develop and nurture effective relationships with clients and stakeholders and manage external relationships to ensure the development of relevant organisational policies and strategies.
- Provide high level support to the Executive Director (Government Partnerships) in their role as support officer to the Director-General as Government Champion for an Indigenous community.
- Develop and analyse complex policy options and advise on significant emerging Indigenous and academic research policy issues, including strategic priorities for Queensland.
- Lead and contribute to projects and activities to deliver quality outcomes, individually or as a team member, with an emphasis on meeting deadlines within quality, costs and time constraints.
- Draft complex correspondence on behalf of the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, Executive Director such as cabinet submissions, ministerial correspondence, briefing notes and policy/research papers.
- Represent TMR in meetings, committees and working groups with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and constructively within the Indigenous and Academic Partnerships team to contribute to a strong, cohesive and high performing work team.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement This role reports to the Director (Indigenous and Academic Partnerships) and manages projects of a medium size and complexity.
