ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote

Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government.

Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations and

economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism,

proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.

ASIS is seeking to engage a number of highly motivated, knowledgeable and capable individuals to fill

vacancies across the Service.

We are seeking committed and experienced resource management professionals to fill positions within

our organisation. The role/s incorporate a diverse set of responsibilities, including budgeting, financial

management and reporting, and procurement activities. You will be working closely with senior

personnel and other internal and external stakeholders and will be called upon to provide professional

advice.

Role
As a Resource Manager in ASIS you will be responsible for delivering high quality and effective financial

support to the organisation. Your contribution will go towards ensuring the financial integrity of ASIS and

its business groups. This will involve effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders, as

well as ensuring compliance with all aspects of Australian legislative and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders you wil provide a full range of timely corporate

management functions including financial and budget management, resource management (including

people and equipment) and general administrative management. They will exercise a considerable

degree of independence and engage in complex problem solving that impact on strategic, political or

operational outcomes for the agency.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Outlined below are the key areas of responsibility for the Resource Manager roles:
1. Assist SES staff to develop and manage internal budgets and resourcing levels (including staffing);
2. Prepare regular and ad-hoc financial reports and costings for internal and external stakeholders;
3. Provide expert advice and assistance to relevant personnel on accounting matters and policy;
4. Provide analysis of financial results, including the identification of potential under/overspends and

recommendations for possible solutions;
5. Work collaboratively across a range of locations;
6. Manage assets and coordination of resources;
7. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders;
8. Assist management teams with the procurement activities for a range of items;
9. Assist with the ongoing contract management; and

10. Monitoring and implementation of approved NPPs.

Education / Qualifications / Experience

The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded (Resource Managers):
Demonstrated experience in procurement, finance or managing assets and logistics, or

translatable business management skills;
Demonstrated understanding of financial management and/or budgeting processes and/or

Federal Government procurement regulations/frameworks;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communications skills; and

Relevant tertiary degree or comparable qualifications.
