Portfolio Optimiser

**The Opportunity**:
ENGIE ANZ is looking for an experienced Portfolio Optimiser to develop, model and analyse methods to represent ENGIE ANZ’s assets in terms of their hedge strategies as well as risks; use this analysis to help develop strategic advice for the business on risk management, hedging and energy supply. The incumbent will also develop process to operationalise tasks as required, for example, regular trades/transfers between portfolio books and trading, and monitoring hedge strategies.

The role can be worked flexibly between home and our Southbank office, and we will consider reasonable requests for part time work.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting into the General Manager Portfolio Optimisation, you will:

- Ensure that the assets (including B2B and B2C) expected revenue, production and associated risks are modelled appropriately, including working with the analytics/IT team to improve the models and also ensure these models are regularly reviewed, critically assessed and updated
- Work with the business to understand the model outputs and what this means in terms of risks/implications
- Work with both the structuring and trading teams within GEMS to model and analyse products and hedging strategies, to best secure the revenue and reduce the risks of the portfolio of assets; these strategies are co-built with the General Manager Portfolio Management and the business stakeholders and executed by the trading team
- Contribute to the development of forward and spot hedging strategies across ENGIE ANZ’s portfolio to maximise gross margin and minimise risk
- Perform the regular transfers of risks / positions between the portfolio and the trading team - as the GEMS systems and book structure evolve, work closely with IT to design and implement a process to systematically identify and transfer risk exposures from the portfolio towards the trading team, aiming for as much automation as possible

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will bring forward your high level quantitative analysis and financial engineering skills from experience within the electricity, gas, financial markets or actuarial environments. You will possess in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of the Australian Power and Gas markets and able to analyse the wholesale energy market across the power, gas and carbon environment

Advanced skills in querying Oracle databases as well as MS Access, MS Excel (VBA) and Matlab or other statistical packages will be required.
