**Position Information**:
St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with a current enrolment in excess of 1730 students. Thirty-two per cent of students are from non-English speaking backgrounds and the gender balance is approximately fifty-seven per cent boys and forty-three per cent girls. The school has a Hearing Support Unit, an Intensive English Centre, a long-running gifted and talented program valued by the school community and a substantial learning and support program also valued by the community. The school runs a BYOD program that enabled extensive online learning delivery. There have been significant advances in infrastructure in recent years resulting in improved teaching and learning facilities including a new gym which is about to be extended in a joint project with Ku-ring-gai Council. The school’s curriculum structure is based on KLAs and the school runs a substantial student wellbeing program. There is a mix of early career and experienced teachers who have played a significant role in improved HSC results in recent years. The school has an active, supportive and highly engaged P&C and the community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated capacity to work with a large and dynamic school executive to support initiatives that improve student and staff outcomes through a coaching approach.
Demonstrated capacity to initiate and lead induction and transition programs, including NESA Accreditation at all levels.
Capacity to effectively manage, coordinate and monitor NESA requirements for years 7-12
Proven ability to initiate and lead innovative educational opportunities aimed at nurturing and challenging high-potential and gifted students, in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
