Join us as a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Safety Advisor, from providing advice and coaching to conducting investigations, you'll partner and support workers across a diversity of operations, contributing to an effective safety-focused culture.

**The Opportunity**
The Safety, Security, Risk, and Emergency Management Directorate, within the People and Corporate Services Division, provides internal services that ensure compliance, safety, and effective risk management.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing safety operations, emergency planning, outbreak coordination, protective security, enterprise risk, and business continuity.
- Reporting to the Senior WHS Advisor, providing high-quality, accurate WHS advice and support, particularly in high-risk operational areas.
- Empowering workgroups to understand legislative responsibilities, implement safe work practices, and continuously improve risk management strategies.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to provide WHS knowledge, education, and support.
- Monitoring the Hazard and Incident reporting system, collaborating with workgroups to ensure effective safety outcomes, and participating in WHS programs and projects.

**Qualifications/Licenses**
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
- A tertiary qualification(s) in Work Health and Safety is highly desirable.
- A minimum of three years’ experience with safety management and/or risk management systems is essential.
- Qualifications in Work Health Safety audit and assurance (e.g. OHS ISO 45001:2018 or equivalent) is desirable.
- Incident investigation and/or root cause analysis certification, such as ICAM is desirable.

**Special Conditions**

In the event of an emergency, staff members of the Safety, Security, Risk and Emergency Management Directorate are required to assist in response and recovery activities. This may involve working in the State Emergency Centre, State Command Centre, Executive Crisis Management Team, Incident Management Team or a Forward Command post in the field. This may include significant out of hours work and challenging work conditions.

This position may include fulfilling an on-call rotating with other staff, while on call the appointee must be immediately contactable 24 hours a day, fit to work and available to respond to emergency notifications and/or report to the State Emergency Centre within 60 minutes of receipt of a call/text.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 12 months.

**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
