**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated **Communications Specialist** to join our Marketing and Communications team in Canberra. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development and delivery of culturally responsive communications strategies that support our mission to enhance the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement effective communication plans that align with the organisation's goals and mission.
- Craft culturally sensitive and impactful content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and organisational reports.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to ensure communications are relevant, accurate, and engaging.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and provide insights for improvement.
- Support the organisation in managing media relations, responding to media inquiries, and promoting positive media coverage.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of marketing materials, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.

**About You**:

- Proven experience in a communications role, ideally within the not-for-profit or community-focused sector.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a commitment to promoting their social and emotional wellbeing.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Experience in managing social media platforms and developing digital content.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field are desirable.
