**About the role**

Do you enjoy being hands on in your day to day duties? Are you highly customer focus and possess well developed skills to resolve gardening and maintenance issues as they arise?

We are seeking a dedicated, experienced and organised maintenance and grounds employee to join our small but productive team at our beautifully landscaped retirement village in Claremont, WA.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Install and maintain seasonal plants
- Maintain and fertilize green spaces
- Mulch, edge and weed gardens
- Prune and trim trees and bushes
- Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, including but not limited to, chainsaws, trimmers and leaf blowers
- Monitor and maintain the health of plants
- Deal with pest problems that could damage plants
- Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter
- Occasional setting up of rooms and equipment, adhering to OH&S guidelines
- Equipment and plant repairs and monitoring
- Assisting residents and staff with ad hoc maintenance & gardening requests
- Assisting with the upkeep of the ongoing Maintenance program
- Preventative and corrective maintenance duties across the facility
- Gardening and landscaping duties as required
- Timely reporting of any issues to management.

**Skills & Experience**
- Experience as a Gardener
- Familiarity with landscaping design
- Knowledge of regional plant life
- Knowledge of local pests and how to eliminate them
- Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers
- Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping
- The ability to lift heavy objects
- The ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time
- A love of the outdoors and plant life
- Current police clearance
- Current First Aid / CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Unrestricted WA Drivers Licence
- Proven ability to work autonomously and manage own time
- Excellent communication skills
- Maintenance / Handyperson skills
- Occupational Health and Safety knowledge preferred
