**The Role**
The Mission Support Officer is a part of a small team that provides the critical mission support function, to enable conduct of Royal Australian Air Force ‘Special Purpose Aircraft’ (SPA) missions, to meet government transport requirements.
This requires a motivated individual to navigate the dynamic and often time-compressed environment to ensure that the mission administration for flying operations are coordinated for domestic and international missions.
This requires the individual to liaise with other Australian and foreign government agencies and commercial entities to ensure administrative aspects for aircraft and crew transits are accomplished.
On occasion the incumbent will fill in for the VIP Mission Support Manager (VMSM) for short periods and accordingly need to be familiar with the VMSMs duties and role. Subject to agreement, flexibility to perform occasional on-call duties is desirable.
**About our Team**
VIP Operations (VIPOPS) is a small yet capable team, accountable for the tasking and control of SPA missions. The team values proactivity and attention to detail, and is responsible to the Chief of Air Force for the conduct of its duties. It is a multidisciplinary team that reflects the Australian Defence Force and Australian Public Service values.
As part of VIPOPS, the Mission Support Officer will aid in enabling SPA missions by conducting the administrative aspects of the aviation operation. VIPOPS is collocated within No 34 Squadron at Defence Establishment Fairbairn in Canberra.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Strong written and oral communication skills and be comfortable conversing with a variety of ranks and audiences including foreign military, civil domestic and international agencies.
- Ability to prioritise and time manage a variable workload whilst working in a sometimes-fluid environment which requires flexibility and adaptability.
- Demonstrate commitment to the Defence and APS values and be focused on being a dedicated team member.
