Principal Cyber Security Officer

Reporting to the Manager Cyber Security, Information Communication and Technology Services, the Principal Cyber Security Analyst will:
- Proactively contribute to safeguarding the department from security intrusions, threats, weaknesses and exploits to support the effective delivery of information and cyber security services for the department.
- Work to resolve complex cyber security issues for departmental users within reasonable timeframes and ensuring agreed service levels are met, team culture or team priorities.
**Responsibilities will include**:
- Provide Microsoft 365 E5 security architecture expertise including consultancy and guidance on the design, development and evaluation of the same, and oversee the implementation of Microsoft 365 E5 cloud security in accordance with the department's enterprise architecture principles, policies, procedures and standardsas they relate to the department's business systems.
- Be responsible for the optimisation of the security posture of the department in alignment with the Queensland Government IS18:2018 Information Security Policy, by performing vendor and solution risk assessments, planning and implementing security measures and controls to protect sensitive data and systems frominfiltration, exfiltration, and cyberattacks.
- Be responsible for Microsoft 365 E5 security operations including: - Report and communicate to a wide variety of stakeholders on various security initiatives and operational tasks to identify and report on potential threats, suspicious/anomalous activity, malware, and track progress of security related tasks and activities. Monitor networks and systems, perform event correlation, detect and respond to security events and incidents, analyse and assess alerts, and report on threats, intrusion attempts and false alarms, either resolving or escalating, depending on the severity. Monitor external data sources and maintain operational relationships to gain situational awareness of the threat landscape, maintain currency of cyber defence threat conditions and determine which security issues may have an impact on the enterprise. Perform assessments on threats and vulnerabilities and assess and communicate the potential impact to the enterprise. Proactively respond to any potential security issues following predefined actions to handle BAU and high severity issues including escalating to other support groups. Execute daily planned and ad-hoc security tasks, lead small projects as needed and participate in audit programs where required.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors and consultants, on required security assessments and audits.
