**The role and what we are looking for**

The Manager - Communications & Engagement will be responsible for development and execution of strategic communication and engagement plans that align with Capricorn's vision and purpose. This role will deliver an integrated communications strategy that assists in managing the company's reputation, positions Capricorn as an industry leader and supports our Members to grow stronger businesses.

**Responsibilities**
- Define, implement, manage and monitor external communications strategy and plans that assist in achieving Capricorn Group strategy and purpose.
- Develop story ideas, create and distribute media releases to generate positive publicity for Capricorn and our community. Liaise with PR consultants as appropriate to deliver the best result.
- Prepare and execute a plan to engage appropriate industry and community partners, influencers and stakeholders regarding key issues that face Capricorn Members now and into the future.
- Lead the preparation and timely publication of corporate communications, setting a clear corporate narrative.
- Provide expert communications advice and assistance to Executive team members and Directors, including preparation of speeches and presentations.
- Actively safeguard Capricorn's reputation by anticipating, identifying and managing issues. Manage and provide guidance to others on external crisis communications.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure all efforts align with the Capricorn brand's overall goals and objectives. Build and maintain relationships with key industry and media contacts.
- Contribute to the development of annual and longer-term business plans.
- Foster a culture open to change and supports continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability.

**Experience**
- Extensive background in Public Relations, Media & Engagement
- Demonstrated experience leading people and managing resources to deliver objectives.
- Minimum 5 years experience within Communications field
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications/Public Relations or related discipline.
