
Principal Legal Officer

**Transport and Main Roads is currently seeking a Principal Legal Officer to work within the Legal Services team.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide well researched, timely, practical and accurate legal advice to departmental staff at all levels of the organisation on a wide range of complex and sensitive legal matters including statutory interpretation, workplace law, work health and safety, industrial relations, general litigation and administrative law.
- Negotiate, draft and settle a wide range of legal documents including notices, decisions, letters, submissions, memorandum of understanding, agreements, deeds, affidavits and witness statements, instruments of appointment and instruments of delegation.
- Representing the department in the QHRC, QIRC and QCAT.
- Instruct and manage service delivery by external legal providers on behalf of the department.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
- Holds a Degree in Law and has been admitted or is eligible to be admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
