- APS 6 ($98,022 - $119,634),Executive Level 1 ($126,885 - $153,655) | Ongoing | Full-time & Part-time
- Canberra, ACT
**ABOUT THE DIVISION AND BRANCH**
The Digital ID and Data Policy Division leads the provision of strategic policy advice, program oversight and legislative development to achieve the Government’s vision for Digital ID in Australia.
Our role is broad and diverse - encompassing the full range of policy and legislative development, engaging across government and the private sector to drive reform and engagement on Digital ID, and working with partner agencies and regulators to deliver a complex program that is a major priority for Government.
Working in the Division is high energy, fast paced and exciting. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities. We have worked hard to create a highly collaborative and supportive environment, where people are respected and where new ideas are welcomed. It’s a team where everybody pitches in and has an opportunity to contribute and work on new things.
The Division includes three digital ID-focused branches - the Digital ID Policy Branch, the Digital ID Legislation and Rules Branch and the Digital ID Communications, Inclusion and Governance Branch - that work collaboratively and flexibly to deliver on the Government’s agenda. Much of our work spans many teams and departments, presenting a fantastic opportunity to build networks across Government and contribute to a high-impact program.
The available positions are in the Digital ID Legislation and Rules Branch. This process may be used to fill any future similar vacancies for other Branches in the Division.
The Digital ID Legislation and Rules Branch is responsible for the legislative framework for the Digital ID program. The Digital ID Act 2024 and its Rules and Standards underpin the Australian Government Digital ID System (AGDIS) and established an Accreditation Scheme. The Branch offers law design support for amendments to the legislative framework and provides coordinated advice on the interpretation of the framework. Additionally, the Branch sets operational policy addressing matters such as privacy, biometrics, security, human rights, liability, and charging within the AGDIS and Accreditation Scheme. The Branch collaborates with government stakeholders and the private sector to develop policy and draft legislative instruments, ensuring the operation of the AGDIS and Accreditation Scheme aligns with other related legislative regimes.
