Reporting to the Branch Manager, this is a highly visible, stand-alone opportunity with Great Lakes Australia (GLA); a branch of Great Lakes Insurance SE incorporated in Germany.

Great Lakes Insurance SE (GLISE) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Re.

Your job

Your role will ensure GLA’s direct general insurance operations satisfy all local regulatory and home office compliance obligations and primary ownership for all legal and compliance matters.

**Compliance**:

- Maintain an appropriate Compliance Framework covering GLA’s operations in Australasia
- Monitor applicable Australian legislation, regulations, draft bills and consultation papers and statutory developments or requirements which may have an impact on the GLA businesses
- Work with GLISE HO, business partners and local colleagues to identify all compliance obligations or changes to existing obligations. Includes assisting with the determination and implementation of monitoring tools and action plans
- Educate stakeholders and promote stronger compliance and anti-fraud culture across the Australasian operations

**Legal**:

- Review, prepare and advise management on contracts and agreements to ensure GLA’s interests are protected and commercial outcomes achieved. This includes maintaining control and a library of all original contracts and agreements for GLA
- Monitor, research and report on all applicable Australian legislation, regulations and other statutory requirements
- Provide legal advice to management on the conduct of GLA’s direct and MGA insurance operations and structures in Australia
- Co-ordinate and provide ad hoc advice in respect of claims and customer/ insured complaints or disputes

**Profile**:

- Bachelor of Law and admission to practise in Australia
- 7+ years experience as a Corporate Lawyer within the General Insurance or financial services industries
- Experience in compliance obligations within the financial services industry
