Reporting to the Head of Data the Data Governance Manager role sits within the Digital department, the role will work across different brands and data domains, engaging with business stakeholders, working groups and SME’s to define and improve all data definitions, catalogues, lineages, qualities, standards and controls.

This is a key role within MMS as the role liaises across the entire business. Considerable influencing, consultation and communications skills are required to manage and build relationships.

Primary Responsibilities
- Embed the ongoing roll out of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on strategic priorities for the development of information-based capabilities, and the improvement of data quality
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise.
- Support the business towards achieving value-based outcomes through enabling required data for prioritised initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between business areas, to ensure that data related business requirements for are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritisation and planning.

Secondary Responsibilities
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets
- Maintain an inventory of data assets including data catalogues and metrics reporting.
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and whether data used is fit for purpose.
- Chair the established Data Governance Council meetings, and continued running of BU Working group sessions, as well as provide progress reports to Exec & ARCC.
- Continued measurement and reporting on our data maturity index.
- Work with IT and Security teams to measure and enhance the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behaviour policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.

You will bring:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a large organisation, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience
- Proven ability to collaborate, engage and influence key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated results around linking commercial outcomes to data deliverables and results.
- Experience presenting to and chairing executive level sessions under the Data Governance Framework
- Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data measurement practices
- Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
- Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Knowledge of risk, data architecture and technology solutions.
- Experience embedding DAMA DMBOK 2 advantageous but not essential
- Strong knowledge of SQL essential
- Snowflake and/or PowerBI knowledge is advantageous but not essential
- Tertiary Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or relevant business experience.
