GHD has been involved in dams since the company's birth almost 90 years ago. We have the largest dedicated dams engineering team in Australia and one of the larger teams across the globe. We have more than 150 technical dams people in Australia and growing numbers globally, particularly throughout the Americas, United Kingdom, within Asia and New Zealand.
We have investigated, designed, or supervised the construction of more dams in Australia than any other Australian firm of non-government consulting engineers. The size of these dams varies from small dams designed for local community towns to large, significant water supply dams for large city water supply or industrial use.
We have a Business Group Leader position available within the group for people looking to take their next career step into a rewarding leadership position. You will be joining a group with extensive experience and an industry-leading profile in this sector working on a wide variety of renewable energies and water infrastructure projects.
Drawing on your engineering qualifications and previous experience in consulting, you will be empowered and accountable for leading your own team.
You will play a key role in leading-edge projects, collaborate with industry leaders, and be responsible for executing aspects of the Business Group Plan and Region Business Plan. You will lead, develop, and mentor your team members, while managing the team’s workload. Collaborating with other leaders in the business and clients to secure work for your team will ensure your success in your role.
**Who are we looking for?**
Working with our Operations Manager, multi-disciplinary leadership group and broader internal network, this **pivotal leadership position **is your opportunity to lead a passionate, technically renowned team within a global consultancy and will see you involved in:
- Lead, manage and grow our Sydney Dams & Tailings team.
- Manage Business Group performance, people, and resources.
- Develop and achieve our business plan objectives and targets aligned with GHD’s Make It Real strategy.
- Establish and maintain strong collaboration with other Business Group Leaders and relevant Service Line Leaders, both nationally and globally, to maximize opportunities and collaboration within GHD.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with government and private sector clients and across GHD.
- Build a strong business development and winning work culture, with effective positioning and pursuit of large and strategic opportunities and expanding GHD's presence and market share.
- Lead the technical and commercial direction on significant projects, identifying and creating business opportunities and effectively managing risks.
- Develop and mentor a talented team of engineers.
- Drive a safety culture throughout the business and across our projects.
**What you will bring to the team**:
- Engaging and motivating people skills backed by strategic problem-solving capabilities.
- Deep relevant industry knowledge in dams & hydropower, including long-term challenges, combined with strategy development skills
- Commercially astute with strong project delivery experience, including providing support to Project Directors and Project Managers to deliver outstanding client experiences coupled with both technical and commercial performance on projects.
- Passionately innovative, with a drive to continuously evolve the way we work to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.
- High level market awareness and business development skills in water, resources and renewable energy markets with a strong focus on client engagement and ideally a well-established network of relationships across potential clients.
- You are a hardworking, supportive and motivating leader able to get the best out of their team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
