The Salvation Army Youth Outreach Service offers a supportive environment where, through compassionate and skilled service, youth “at risk” can find hope and achieve their potential. The primary goal of our programs is to provide disengaged young people freedom to live independently through engagement in supported education, housing and targeted social interventions.
We currently have an opportunity for a fixed-term full-time Youth Tenancy and Advocacy Worker.
The role you could play- Support young people to develop skills and competencies that enables them to sustain their accommodation- Complete assessment and referral, advocacy, information giving, case planning with young people- Build and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with young people
- Advocate for the rights of young people
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, welfare, community development or related field
- Alternatively, minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth and or families who are disadvantaged and/or have complex needs.
- Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge (Tenancy & Housing) and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions
- Working with Children suitability card (Commission for Children and Young People Blue Card
- Driver’s licens
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
