The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

The Salvation Army Youth Outreach Service offers a supportive environment where compassion and advocacy, support youth at risk who have become involved in the Justice System.

The Youth Worker & Justice Support role is a 12 month fixed-term full-time position located in Brisbane.

The role you could play
- Support young people to navigate the justice system
- Advocate on behalf of young people and where possible encourage self-advocating
- Support young people to receive social justice by advocating their access to community supports and pathways
- Identify and advocate systemic justice issues
- Provide assessment and referral, advocacy, information giving, case planning with young people
- Develop and maintain an effective network of referrals to appropriate service providers, both within the Salvation Army and externally

What you will bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work/Social Work or similar discipline. Minimum Certificate qualifications
- Alternatively, minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth who are disadvantaged, complex needs or involved in the Youth Justice system
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions
- Working with Children suitability card (Commission for Children and Young People Blue Card)
- Driver’s license
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
