**Position Information**:
Cardiff High School is a coeducational comprehensive school located on the northern side of Lake Macquarie, on the traditional lands of the Awabakal People. In 2025, the school recorded 770 enrolments, including 116 students from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Backgrounds. With steady student population growth in recent years, Cardiff High has established a strong reputation within the Cardiff, Garden Suburb, Hillsborough, and Macquarie Hills communities. The school offers a diverse curriculum that supports a wide range of academic, creative arts, and vocational interests, with many students progressing to tertiary education or local industry pathways.
The school's strategic directions are: 1) Student Growth & Attainment, 2) Belonging, and 3) Aspiration, reflecting its commitment to academic achievement and holistic development. Cardiff High School operates a SOAR Learning Centre (special education) including 54 students in 7 supported classes. The school also operates a Middle School class model to assist and inspire Year 7 students with additional needs. The school is known for its strong performance in academics, sports, and the creative and performing arts.
Staff professional development is a priority, with initiatives like the Aspirational Staff Leadership Program and Quality Teaching Rounds fostering continuous improvement. Student wellbeing is supported through programs such as The Resilience Project, the Student Mentoring Program, The Learning Centre, and the Senior Student Learning Hub. **Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated ability to initiate, implement and oversee whole school administration roles including timetabling, daily organisation, employment of casuals, the development and implementation of rosters and schedules, and variations to routine utilising Edval, SAP, SCOUT, and Sentral systems.
2. Demonstrated ability to work successfully and productively with the school executive team to analyse data and to lead, implement and support whole school priorities and initiatives in the school’s Strategic Improvement Plan.
3. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to foster a team culture to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with all members of staff and the broader school community.
4. Demonstrated expertise in collaboratively leading comprehensive and innovative approaches to raising the educational outcomes of students from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
