**The role**
We are looking for multiple Laboratory Assurance Managers in Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne and Perth. This is a Temporary Full-Time position for 12 months with the possibility of extension for 2 years.
Under the general direction of the Laboratory Quality Director, the Laboratory Assurance Manager will be responsible for driving the implementation of the diagnostic laboratory network’s Laboratory Assurance Program.
You will evaluate the present state of the department’s diagnostic laboratories processes, activities & systems, identify gaps to standard requirements, design and implement improvement activities.
The duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake and facilitate a range of assurance program requirements and administrative activities that contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the laboratory and supports the delivery of assurance program objectives.
- Communicate, collaborate, report, and undertake, where applicable, activities relating to the laboratory equipment maintenance schedule, calibration, servicing, and repair.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, instructional material, forms, and document reviews.
- Contribute technical or administrative skills and knowledge in working groups, training opportunities, and cross-section functions, primarily with internal stakeholders and on assurance issues.
- Liaise, negotiate, and communicate with government agencies, industry bodies and other stakeholders
- Provide support in the preparation and maintenance of biosecurity specimen reference collections
- Contribute to the implementation of systems improvement initiatives, specifically a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Tertiary qualification in in agriculture or biological science, entomology, plant pathology, botany, or other field relevant to biosecurity.
- Experience in laboratory management system compliance, administration, internal auditing, record keeping and reporting.
- Have a deep understanding of quality management system compliance.
- Knowledge of appropriate standards, rules, and regulations for laboratory practices for WHS and biosecurity containment
- Will be required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at this level.
