**About the Role**
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Officer to join Dr. Sidonia Eckle's Group at the University of Melbourne. As part of the MAIT cell program, you will have the unique chance to delve into the fascinating world of unconventional T cells and their role in infectious diseases and allergies. With a focus on understanding MAIT cell-mediated immunity and the T cell receptor-antigen-MR1 interaction, you will contribute to the development of MAIT cell-based therapies and vaccines. This role offers a collaborative and supportive team environment, where your enthusiasm for immunology and biochemistry will be nurtured.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Independently plan and carry out experiments, ensuring ethical practices, accuracy, reproducibility, and timely completion.
- Maintain accurate records and perform qualitative and statistical analysis of research data.
- Collaborate with team members, assist in their experiments, and contribute to the laboratory's research output.
**Who We Are Looking For**
You are a motivated and proactive learner, consistently seeking opportunities to expand your skills and autonomy. With excellent problem-solving abilities, you actively drive improvements, develop new protocols, and demonstrate strong organisational skills for precise data analysis.
You will also have:
- PhD or equivalent with a major in Immunology or a related discipline.
- Expert knowledge of general concepts in immunology, especially related to antigen presentation and antigen recognition.
- Comfortable with the use of experimental mice in medical research and handling human blood and tissue samples.
- Expertise in flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and _in vitro_ immunological cell-based assays, such as proliferation assays and cytokine assays.
