**Position Description Pool Attendant**

**Purpose**

The Pool Attendant position is a casual seasonal role that supports the Senior Pool
Attendant of the Marion Outdoor Pool to ensure compliance and safety of patrons. The role
requires, understanding and taking direction from leaders and providing effective visual and
verbal communication to users of the facility to create the safest environment possible. This
position follows safe work practices and procedures and educates users of the facility on
how to be safe in and around the Marion Outdoor Pool.

Working with in the City Property Division of the City Development Department, you will
contribute to the strategic outcomes of City of Marion and be pivotal in delivering
exceptional customer service to our community.

**Key Deliverables**
- Ensure supervisory patterns are adhered to according to the Marion Outdoor Pool

Supervision Plan.
- Ensure that all safety, hygiene and general cleanliness standards are met for the

water, its surroundings and changerooms to an extremely high standard.
- Administer first aid/resuscitation if required.
- Maintain order, control and ensure appropriate behavior of pool users with particular

attention to safety and proper use of facilities.
- Assist customers and user groups with enquiries and help resolve any problems they

may encounter at the Centre.
- Install and remove equipment as advised by the Bookings Sheet or the Pool

Attendant Supervisor and/or Senior Pool Attendant.
- Report breakdown of plant, machinery and equipment to Pool Attendant Supervisor.
- Ensure all functions performed are environmentally sustainable and comply with the

City of Marion’s environmental policies and direction.
- Participate in internal training and education programs.
- Maintain all essential qualifications for the position.
- Demonstrate and support the City of Marion’s values when working with others and

the community.

Essential criteria

**Qualifications**:

- Current Pool Lifeguard Award.

Desirable criteria
- Experience in Swimming Centre operations.
- Basic operating requirements of swimming pool plant and machinery.
- Familiarity with water treatment and testing procedures.
- Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Experience in Swimming Centre operations.
- Have a detailed knowledge in First Aid procedures and practices.
- Swimming Centre operations and practices.
- Council policy and procedures as they relate to Swimming Centre Operations.
- Basic operating requirements of swimming pool plant and machinery.
- Water treatment and testing procedures.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Sound public relations, customer service skills.
- Have excellent communication skills in dealing with clients/user groups.
- Sound ability to manage conflict situations effectively.

**Standard conditions**
- Satisfactory completion of a National Police Clearance (will be arranged by the City of

Marion)
- Satisfactory completion of applicable Medical Assessment (will be arranged by the

City of Marion)
- Must be either an Australian resident or possess the legal right to work in Australia,

with the ability to provide documentation of a valid work visa.
- Comply with ex
