About us As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners. Purpose of the role Capability and Investment supports the ongoing delivery of business capability modelling and strategic investment planning to improve capability maturity, through providing support to capability owners and service leads to ensure the effective review of their capability and that investment support is provided to enhance the delivery of the department's organisational and operational capabilities. Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team, contributing to statewide support, direction and operational guidance for the review, implementation and ongoing delivery of the capability and investment methodology. You will also be responsible for undertaking activities to develop and enhance the QFES capability framework to facilitate the development of systems and management of inputs for capability owners to assess both current and future requirements. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements - Knowledge and/or experience in organisational or business capability management or equivalent. - Knowledge and experience in project management or working in a project environment. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: - Assist in the design, implementation and support of best practice approaches, frameworks and guidelines for capability management in support of the development of departmental systems. - Contribute to the development of strategy, organisational frameworks and processes in support of the capability framework, business continuity and investment modelling. - Provide advice and support to key stakeholders to analysis, evaluate and plan activities, ensuring alignment with best practice processes and project methodologies to help shape the investment plans for each respective departmental capability. - Assist in the development and implementation of a capability maturity review program to ensure current and future state requirements are met. - Assist with the research and provide support for the analysis, identification and assessment of requirements for the effective delivery of departmental service capabilities, - Assist in the preparation and review of reports, briefing notes, submissions, business cases, other correspondence relating to capability issues and initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance. - Maintain knowledge and awareness of methodologies and current best practice for continuous improvement for existing frameworks, guides and processes to support the review and implementation of QFES capabilities.
