One of Australia’s most prominent **Federal Government Departments** is looking to engage a skilled and experienced **Strategic Designer **to join their multidisciplinary team based in **Canberra**. The strategic designer will be responsible for working to develop a service strategy that is fit for purpose and champions the needs of the end user, whilst aligning with policy intent. A proven ability to lead the development of a future state, starting at policy level and based on user research, quantitative data and client needs is essential. The successful **Strategic Designer **will secure a **3 month contract **with a** 12-month** extensions with a **rewarding hourly rate.**

The successful **Strategic Designer **will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Review, understand and design existing service delivery.
- Lead the iterative development of user-centred design artefacts, such as personas, journey maps and service mapping / blueprints.
- Working with the design team to plan and run co-design sessions, including ideation, prototyping.
- Lead and facilitate innovation workshops with key stakeholders.
- Working with stakeholders from multiple business areas to design policy that addresses user needs and meets business objectives.

The successful **Strategic Designer **will have experience in the following:

- High level interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and conduct research, which includes the following activities
- Develop user research plan
- Develop discussion guides
- Develop recruitment plans
- Conduct user research interviews
- Draft user research reports
- Identify preferred research participant cohorts
- Synthesise existing research from other outputs such as desktop, stakeholder meetings, interviews, workshops or/ and forums etc.
- Advanced experience in human centred design, ideations, prototyping and testing of strategy and process.
- Plan, conduct and lead the facilitation of events, co-design sessions, workshops and activities to iteratively develop strategic thinking.
