**Personal Assistant/ Disability Support Worker**

This job is to assist a gentleman, who has a disability and mental health challenges, to build his independence at home and support his inclusion and participation in community life.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to do something rewarding and different.
This is a shared family-directed arrangement. The man, his family, and support team are seeking a good life for him at home and in the community.
The man is 35 years old, with a passion for fitness and music. He loves his dog and cat, being at home, has a great sense of humour and is amazingly intelligent, intuitive and doesn’t miss a thing.
The Role:
Personal Assistant / Disability Support Worker role has an emphasis on assisting the man with:
Supporting the man at home with domestic tasks, cleaning and cooking.
Supporting the man to attend appointments, go shopping and accessing the community.
Supporting the man in maintaining his house and yard.
Supporting the man with social connection, helping him build relationships and friendships.
The successful applicant will join a team of committed support workers and family will be invited to contribute to the planning of a “good life" for the man that is individually tailored, relevant, meaningful, purposeful, fulfilling and sustainable.
You do not need disability experience as you will receive comprehensive on the job training as well as training from external organisations.
About you:
To be considered for this position you must:
- Understand complex mental health with a willingness to learn how the man specifically needs his support.
- understand the importance of social inclusion and unconditional positive regard for all humans.
- have a commitment to the full participation of people with disability within the community.
- have excellent social skills, be friendly, cooperative and a good team player.
- have an open mind to see new ways of doing things and the values that underpin actions.
- pay attention to detail, can follow procedures, and keep good records.
- show initiative, have good judgment, and have a willingness to be in a continual learning environment.
- have energy and imagination in creating social opportunities that help cultivate friendships.
- be respectful, considerate, and courteous.
- be conscious and present to know when to back off.
- be reliable and responsible, do what you say you will do.
- have excellent listening, communication, and organisational skills.
- be willing to work regular shifts, by negotiation with the employer.
- have a clear police record, working with children check and NDIS worker screening check.
- have a First Aid certificate or are willing to get.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
**Salary**: $23.61 - $42.37 per hour
Expected hours: 3 - 21 per week
Schedule:
- Afternoon shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Rotating roster
- Weekend availability
Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (preferred)
- National Police Certificate (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)
Work Authorisation:
- Australia (preferred)
