**About the role**

The Head of MRI is responsible to the Chief Radiographer for the efficient operational management of MRI imaging services provided by allied health professionals, in accordance with departmental, hospital and SA Medical Imaging policies, procedures and professional guidelines.

The incumbent ensures the development and promotion of research and educational activities for all professional staff within the MRI team.

The incumbent is responsible for all of the MRI equipment and accessory equipment in the Medical Imaging department and will work closely with the Chief Radiographer to ensure the smooth running of the service both in hours and, when necessary, after hours.

As the senior professional practitioner in MRI the incumbent is responsible for the provision of very complex and innovative medical imaging services with a high level of professional independence.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working With Children Check (DHS)
- Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Educational/Vocational Qualifications
- Licensed under the Radiation Protection and Control Act SA (1982).
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles a statement of accreditation in Diagnostic Radiography from the Australian Institute of Radiography, or its recognised equivalent (up to July 2012).
- Registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (post July 2012)
- Australian Institute of Radiography - Level 1 MRI Accreditation
