- This role is a 12-month secondment**The Opportunity**
The Group External Communications team exists to build Woolworths’ brand and reputation as Australia’s most trusted retailer - creating better experiences for customers, team members and communities.
The PR and Social Media Specialist plays an important role within Woolworths Group’s Media Relations Practice, bridging the gap between media relations, and the social sphere from which news stories increasingly originate. They are responsible for delivering a regular calendar of compelling LinkedIn content on Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Group channels to grow brand affinity and team member pride. We are looking to recruit a communications professional for a 12-month contract Parental Leave cover.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Protect the Woolworths Group brand through reactive media issues management, engaging directly with reporters and developing media statements.
- Promote Woolworths Supermarkets and Woolworths Group through earned media, including developing media strategies, pitching to journalists, creating image and video assets and writing press releases.
- Support the press office with inbound media enquiries and participate in after hours and weekend on-call roster for the media team “hotline” (on rotation across team, at least one night per week and occasional weekend day).
- Manage social media issues end-to-end, from best practice on-platform responses to through to related media enquiries.
- Manage a consistent, frequent schedule of LinkedIn content
- Provide ongoing support and coaching to the Customer Hub to help anticipate and mitigate risk and improve our reputation via social media.
- Work closely with key business to develop accurate and timely responses to social media issues as they arise
**About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have several years experience in a similar role, ideally gained in a large scale organisation. You will be a passionate PR & Social Media professional with an eye for detail and driven to ensure our tone of voice, key messaging and timely responses are achieved in line with our brand strategy.
- 3-4 years experience in PR/ Social Media/ Journalism
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally, you’ll be results driven and always have a deep customer mindset.
- Strong writing skills - Ability to write in a clear and concise manner with accurate grammar
- Understanding of social media engagement and community management
- Understanding of the Australian media landscape
- Comfortable in fast paced environments and ability to function effectively under pressure
- Stakeholder management skills to work effectively across teams with shared or divergent priorities
