The position is directly responsible for planning and implementation of the site's annual grounds, maintenance, and minor capital works program. Duties include preparation of annual work plans in accordance with assigned budget(s), preparation of weekly work schedules, coordination of contracted services, documenting operational procedures, monitoring work practices, accurate asset recordkeeping (Loc8) and compliance with ZAA policies and exhibiting animals legislative requirements in terms of captive wildlife exhibits and more broadly, departmental and legislative WHS requirements.
As a member of the park's leadership team the position works closely with the Ranger in Charge, Wildlife Team Leader and Visitor Services Team Leader under the line management of the Senior Ranger and will require great communication and time management skills.
The position is based on site at the DFWP, Burleigh Heads, which incorporates wildlife exhibits, network of walking trails along with event and activity spaces. The position works a five day on and two days off roster, including at least one weekend per month as site Duty Officer.
The work roster may also include some public holiday work. Travel away from your normal centre of operations will be required from time to time and this may include overnight stays. The position has two 003 Rangers within their team who are responsible for day-to-day grounds and general maintenance across the 8ha enclosed wildlife park and surrounding Fleay Conservation Park. The team are also supported by contracted services to maintain the site.
