The Policy and Advocacy team helps fulfil that vision by working closely with governments and other decision makers to influence public policy to achieve social justice.
We build on the vast experience of helping people at their point of need to identify issues. We work with those who give hope to people experiencing hardship to develop solutions. We amplify the voice of lived experience to influence decision-makers.
This is a permanent full-time, 38 hours per week, position based in Barton.
You will successfully
- Contribute to the planning and development of a national strategy for Social Policy and advocacy that promotes social justice
- Lead specific national evidence-based policy development initiatives that promote social justice
- Conduct research into public policy theory and issues
- Provide expert advice in relation to social policy and advocacy and to developments in specialist sectors including the social, political and economic developments affecting these sectors
- Assist service delivery areas to operationalise national policy into practice
- Engage with stakeholders and service delivery teams to ensure policy development is informed by frontline service delivery experience and that frontline service delivery is informed about policy
You will have
- A background in social policy development or practice
- Experience in social justice advocacy
- Experience in research in social or policy issues
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check is required
