About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Government Relations Coordinator to be the driving force behind our engagement with Government and political leaders to drive a national agenda in a consistent, effective and fruitful manner.
Based in Barton and reporting to the
_Head of Government Relations_ you will be a part of a diverse Communications portfolio and work closely with the Public Relations and Policy and Advocacy teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of a framework that supports effective government engagement across Australia
- Monitoring developments at the Commonwealth and state and territory government level
- Co-ordinating engagement with governments including correspondence
- Capture and reporting on The Salvation Army’s activities with government
- Fostering productive relationship with state and federal political stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to influence government decision making
- Advancing internal capability to support and promote social justice
- Advancing TSA’s profile and position in social service delivery and social justice policy
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will be qualified in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations (or related discipline) and have demonstrated work history in Government Relations.
- Experience working in or closely with governments
- Experience in research around political processes and related policy issues
- Understanding and personal alignment with the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work consultatively and collaboratively
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
