**About the company**:
Our client is one of Australia’s leading rural veterinary businesses made up of 70 business sites as part of a team of over 1000 dedicated professionals. Situated in their Bendigo Head Office, they are seeking an experienced Procurement Consultant to join their dynamic team.
**About the role**:
This pivotal role is responsible for leading the procurement of both domestic and international products to ensure effective and efficient supply.
Your duties will include:
- Development and execution of sourcing strategies to optimise the procurement process.
- Lead and drive supplier relationships to deliver ongoing value for both internal and external clients.
- Identify and develop alternative procurement opportunities to support revenue growth.
- Oversee procurement processes including system and vendor maintenance, purchase order approvals and supplier pricing.
- Work with key stakeholders to manage procurement risks identified through forecasting assessments.
- Provide guidance and assistance to veterinary clinics and staff on all aspects of purchasing to ensure agreed stock requirements are on hand.
- Monitor the market to identify new procurement opportunities and provide updates to key stakeholders regarding market developments.
- Develop procedures and processes to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with regulations and laws in accordance with company policy.
- Work with key stakeholders to resolve issues associated with shipment/transportation-related discrepancies and variances.
**To be successful in this role you will possess the below skills and attributes**:
- Proven experience and knowledge of procurement/purchasing, along with a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to persuade, influence and negotiate.
- Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of how purchasing decisions impact business.
- Strategic thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to use data to enhance decision-making.
- Competent user of Microsoft programs and forecasting and purchasing software.
- Experience within animal health, veterinary, and pharmaceutical industries highly regarded, but not essential.
