**About the role & where you’ll be working**

The Manger of Work Health & Safety will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies, plans, processes, and initiatives to continually improve Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc.’s Work Health and Safety culture and outcomes and ensure legislative and corporate requirements are met.

This role is a part of the People Learning & culture team located in our central office in Rivervale and traveling to various sites around WA as needed. This role offers a flexible working environment with a mix of working from home and the office/sites.

**Your duties will include**:

- Lead the development, maintenance, improvement, and communication of SCC(WA) organisation wide Work Health and Safety systems and strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate and review current WHS Policies and Procedures to ensure ongoing legislative compliance.
- Lead and educate all levels of management regarding roles and responsibilities pertaining to their WHS Officer Due Diligence responsibilities.
- Maintain oversight of all WHS committee meetings and Work Health & Safety representatives.
- Identify, monitor, and evaluate WHS hazard trends and develop strategies to eliminate or minimise risks.
- Create and tailor regular reports to the Executive and relevant WHS committees on key WHS activities and metrics and identify lead and lag trending information.
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate processes and procedures to investigate, analyse and report on incidents and hazards indicating failures or inadequacies of controls.
- Lead the implementation of WHS risk management processes and support their maintenance and monitoring.
- Have oversight of Injury Management processes including the management of Workers Compensation.
- Manage and provide effective leadership and direction to the WHS team and provide high quality support across all areas

**About you**

Ideally this person will have experience working in a healthcare setting in a manager role in WHS.

**To be considered for this role, you’ll need**:

- Possession relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Experience in general health and safety policies and practices including familiarity with current legislation and experience in Risk Management and understanding of risk management systems
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of Southern Cross Care (WA).
- Ability to develop relationships with senior leaders, other WHS professionals to create/influence WHS related policy, objectives and strategy and act as a change agent to support improvement in WHS.
- Detailed technical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of WHS concepts, contemporary WHS legislation and practice including experience in risk management and investigations
