**As a Technical Officer, Microbiology, you will**:

- Gather relevant technical information and seek the expertise and advice of other people as appropriate, to provide technical and research support to practical teaching and research programs
- Provide technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of specialised instrumentation in the area of microbiology and cell sciences and prepare materials for classes
- Coordinate on a day-to-day basis, within the designated area of responsibility, materials and equipment requirements of staff and students for the running of practical teaching classes within the specified disciplines of expertise
- Maintain stock control procedures in conjunction with the Technical Coordinator on an ongoing basis
- Trial new experiments and modify existing experiments to ensure the optimal smooth running of practicals within the designated area of responsibility

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in a suitable biological science without subsequent relevant work experience; or
- Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience working in a related field or discipline in higher education or a similar large complex environment
- Good knowledge of OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) (Occupational Health and Safety) principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards
