**About this position**:
Disability Support Workers provide care, emotional support, physical assistance and supervision for people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The specifics of the role depend on the client; however, Disability Support Workers tend to focus on tasks that alleviate physical discomfort and promote social connectedness, independence, emotional wellbeing and general health.

As a Support Worker, you will be engaged in a range of tasks that include transport services, social support, domestic support, personal care and specialist support services for clients with complex needs. You will need to have a drivers license, a reliable vehicle and a flexible schedule, and you also need to be compassionate with a good understanding about NDIS and disability.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Assisting with domestic tasks and chores such as shopping, menu planning, cooking, washing, toileting and cleaning
- Helping with outings, self care, social activities and other daily routines
- Providing companionship and support to assist clients to develop their existing skills, abilities and confidence

**Performance Measure**:

- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience prescribing a range of disability equipment
- Demonstrated high level of problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently (as required) and exercise initiative
- Commitment to providing a client focused service in a timely, consistent, coordinated and flexible manner
- Demonstrated knowledge of ongoing issues that living with a disability presents at various life stages

**Skills/Knowledge**:

- **Essential**_
- Relevant Qualifications: Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) or a Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115) or a Bachelor of Social Work
- Australian Working Rights
- Working with Children Check and Police Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Program and COVID-19 training
- **Preferred**_
- A First Aid Certificate
- A CPR Certificate
- Medication Training
- Experience in high intensity disability work (e.g, hoisting, lifting, experience dealing with clients who have severe dysphagia etc.)
- **Highly Regarded**_
- Previous experience in a similar field
- Experience dealing with mental health

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Part-time hours: 10 - 20 per week

**Salary**: From $35.00 per hour
