**About the Position**
We are seeking an experienced Category & Commercial Lead who will lead the strategic procurement and contract management requirements of critical, high-value, and high-risk procurement activity. This position provides peer leadership and mentoring to the Procurement Team, solves problems, and enables effective, efficient, and value-add procurement planning, sourcing, and contract management aligned with the City’s strategic priorities and business needs.
The role engages at senior levels to promote procurement and commercial integrity and accountability in Council and executive decision-making. It provides professional, commercial, and technical advice to key stakeholders in relation to procurement for effective and compliant operation of the City.
Reporting to the Manager Strategic Procurement, this position will support the City by:
- Contributing to developing and implementing policies, procedures, systems, structures, and frameworks for procurement-related activities to deliver best-practice procurement and contract management solutions that comply with relevant legislation.
- Identifying and managing commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ethical, and supply chain risks as required.
- Providing expert advice to key stakeholders on all aspects of procurement strategy and practice to inform business planning and action, encourage innovative approaches, and enhance value through improved procurement efficiency and outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will have sound knowledge and experience in the development and negotiation of commercial contracts, along with the ability to drive a professional procurement function enabling prompt delivery of organisational business objectives, whilst maximising value and mitigating risk.
Previous experience in ICT and technology category management or projects will be considered favourably.
